Story Store now has Charitable Trust status! For you, this means that any financial donation you make towards Story Store's ongoing costs, will result in a tax deductable receipt. Donations can be made in either of two ways:
1) directly into our bank a/c Story Store, 12 3618 0074312 00 - using your name as reference - then emailing us on [email protected] to let us know and we will email you back an appropriate reciept.
2) make a donation via our Give-a-Little page- you will get a receipt from Give-a-Little on our behalf.
Either way, we thank you from the very bottom of our bookshelves!

Here we are, all set for a new year...but where are the schools!?
Do you know a school with an awesome, passionate librarian but an inadequate Library budget?
You do? Then send them to Story Store to see if we can help them out. We're dying to get started!
Here's another thought...do you have a favourite series, beloved by the kids so much that some copies need to go to the morgue rather than just to mending? Let us know what you're looking to replace - we may just have that elusive title that's now out of print.

Story Store aims to collect excellent condition, 2nd-hand children's books and then make them available, for free, to school libraries that are under-resourced, thereby improving access by ALL tamariki to books that they WANT to read.

Schools are asked to help out by running 'book drives' for donations of excellent condition books that students have read and no longer wish to keep.

Once a collection has been made, the school contacts Story Store or their local rep who arranges delivery to Story Store. 

We need a continual stream of new books for this to be a sustainable venture.

First School Visit!
An historic day in the life of Story Store... Monday 1 May we had our very first visit from a school! St Mary's in Avondale is a small, Catholic, full primary school, catering for a diverse range of cultures. Their Staff member with Library responsibility brought along a Year 7 student and two from Year 6 to help her select 50 books for their Library. After much debate, decisions were made and the children turned their attention to the section of books that had minor flaws - from which they chose another 21 titles. All up, St Mary's went back to school full of happy book buzz, carrying approximately $1065 worth of books FOR FREE!

Schools that have inadequate budget for their libraries and a passionate library advocate on their team, are invited to apply. Our resources are limited and we won’t be able to help everyone - but we’re sure going to try!! Schools are not confined to those in a particular area as we have a web-based option for ordering as well as the physical.
